Complex Needs Consultation Panel (CNCP)
The Complex Needs Consultation Panel (CNCP) is an exciting pilot-project which is funded by the Brisbane South Primary Health Network (BSPHN) and coordinated by Accoras.
The CNCP is designed to support the recovery journey of adults with severe mental illness who are living in the Brisbane South PHN region.
Referrals are welcomed from service providers and practitioners who are working with adults experiencing severe mental illness, where psychosocial complexity is impacting their recovery.
The CNCP has been designed to support you in your work through collaborative case discussion, in a supportive environment.
At Accoras, we believe that no-one deserves to be left behind.
We also believe that working together in our local community can help deliver a better outcome for those who need additional support.
That’s why when you refer to our new Complex Needs Consultation Panel, you can expect:
- A free case discussion forum where you come together with a small group of experienced service providers to help work through the complexities your client is experiencing
- An opportunity to meet and talk with other service providers in the community, who also work supporting adults with severe mental illness
- Access to additional knowledge, insights and referral pathways for clients who are not improving by thinking outside the square with additional systemic and evidence-based recommendations and strategies
- An open and non-judgemental discussion forum which allows you give the best level of care you can, collaboratively
- Access to professional support from industry leaders, while remaining the lead.
How it works
The CNCP meets together for case discussions every month, and is comprised of a small group of providers and practitioners who bring specialist knowledge in areas of psychosocial stress that can impact upon people with mental illness. They are also experienced in collaborative case discussion and planning.
Panel members are knowledgeable about options within the community, and referral pathways, and provide non-clinical advice and support to referrers who are working with adults with severe mental illness.
Once a referral is accepted, referring service providers/practitioners are invited to attend the CNCP meeting – in person or via Teams – to talk to the CNCP about their client and join with the CNCP-members in a collaborative and creative case-planning discussion.
Referrers will leave the Panel discussion with ideas and suggestions for what they can implement to support and enhance their client’s recovery.

About the panel
The panel is a small group of experienced, practitioners who are skilled in their respective areas of specialisation, as well as in collaborative care planning and discussion, and with local knowledge about the community and its respective referral pathways.
They want to help, and they want to give back.
When service providers and practitioners who have adults with mental illness in their care who may not be responding to standard clinical practices, or who are experiencing worsening symptoms, they can go to the CNCP.
The focus is to help people who aren’t improving, and to help practitioners think outside the square through additional systemic and evidence-based recommendations and strategies, addressing the psycho-social-cultural complexities that affect the outcome for the patient.
It’s an open, safe, non-judgemental space that allows practitioners to give the best level of care they can, with professional support from industry leaders, while remaining the clinical lead.
The CNCP can provide a higher level of processional support and guidance.
The benefits of being a member are myriad, including:
