Accoras respectfully acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Owners of our country, the land on which we work and live. We recognise their continuing connection to the land and waters, and their strong and enduring cultures. We pay our respect the Elders past, present and emerging, for they hold the memories, the traditions, the culture and hopes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across the nation.
In July 2019 we were very proud to launch our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
As an organisation that has long-standing relationships with multiple Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across the land we deliver services on, this is something we are very passionate about.
Implementation of the Accoras RAP has been a priority for our leadership team. We have developed a working group made up of passionate Accoras employees and representatives from local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. This working group is overseeing the implementation of our RAP to ensure Accoras raises awareness of reconciliation and make a difference within our local community.
Our Commitment is real
Some of our RAP actions each year include:
Recognising important indigenous events and dates, including National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC, with internal and external activities.
Maintaining a strong relationship with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and communities, including working together towards joint ventures.
Supporting opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with a employment and procurement strategy.
Embedding cultural protocols as part of the way our organisation functions.
Provide all staff with high-quality cultural competency training.
Promote reconciliation to our partners and stakeholders.
