Client testimonials

Accoras You.nique provides free, outreach support for South Brisbane and Gold Coast children and young people aged 0 to 18 years who are struggling with a mental health concern.

What is Accoras You.nique?

Funded by the Department of Social Services as a ‘Family Mental Health Support Service’, the You.nique program provides individual support to children and young people within the context of their family. We meet with children, young people and their families at a time and place that suits them, working with the child or young person to address their mental health needs and helping their parents to understand and support better management of their child’s mental health.

Children or young people we commonly work with are:

  • Experiencing a diagnosed mental health concern;

  • Showing early signs and symptoms of a mental health concern; and/or

  • At risk of developing a mental health concern.

Service delivery areas and referrals

We work across South Brisbane and the Gold Coast, via an outreach model where our practitioners meet with clients and families in their homes and schools. We accept referrals from families, as well as education and health professionals like school guidance officers and GPs who are working or engaged with a child or young person who fits into one of the three categories above. In the community

Community mental health literacy is critical to improving the mental health of families. Wherever possible, we attend school events and expos to provide information about our service and help promote conversations about the importance of child and family mental health and wellbeing. We deliver mental health education and awareness workshops, community engagement and development activities for young people in our community. We also partner with other organisations to support shared clients and promote stronger, mentally healthy communities.
